ABOUT
DESTEX – INDUSTRIAL AND CREATIVE DESIGN IN ADVANCED TEXTILE MANUFACTURING organised a 5-day Summer School, taking place between 21st and 25th June 2021. DESTEX SUMMER SCHOOL will cover different topics related to Advanced Textiles (from sustainability to digital fabrication, from smart textiles to business opportunities), with a combination of hands-on exercises, virtual activities, university workshops/labs tours, and lectures by companies. It involves the four universities taking part in the Destex project:
- University of Borås
- LCI Barcelona
- Politecnico di Milano, School of Design
- Design School Kolding
DESTEX SUMMER SCHOOL is an intensive full-day learning experience, from 09/10 AM to 6 PM, from Monday 21st June to Friday 25th June.

Due to travelling limitations caused by COVID-19, the event will take place physically and simultaneously at each University taking part in the Destex project. The four universities will be connected online, sharing the same agenda, learning activities, and teaching staff. More importantly, students will work in a team with students from the other universities, with the support of online platforms and tools.
Monday 21st
Morning: Online & physical tour of Design School Kolding’s workshops and facilities + Company lecture
Afternoon: Learning activities “Looking into company’s work with sustainability in textile product design”.
Tuesday 22nd
Morning: Online & physical tour to University of Borås’s workshops and facilities + Company lecture
Afternoon: Learning activities “3D printing on textiles”.
Wednesday 23rd
Morning: Online & physical tour to LCI’s workshops and facilities + Company lecture
Afternoon: Learning activities “visual thinking to find business opportunity”.
Thursday 24th
Friday 25th
Morning: Online & physical tour to Polimi Design School’s workshops and facilities + Company lecture
Afternoon: Learning activity “hands-on digital fabrication technologies: laser-cut applied on textiles”.
WHO?
Only students enrolled in one of the 4 Universities of Destext project can apply:
- University of Borås
- LCI Barcelona
- Politecnico di Milano, School of Design
- Design School Kolding
The Summer School is open to only 20 students, 5 from each participating university.

Two spots for students from University of Borås are still available. The deadline for application is set for 06/06/2021. We will communicate the result of the applications by 07/06/2021. Applications are closed for students from other universities.
Please, be sure that you can actually attend the Summer School in presence before applying. Any withdrawal will negatively impact the Summer School success.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
Participation upon selection is free, as the event is part of the DESTEX project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Selected students must attend the Summer School in presence in their home university. For example, this means that LCI students will attend the Summer School physically in LCI Barcelona; Polimi students in Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy; University of Borås students in Borås; Kolding Design School students in Kolding, Denmark).
